We Will Become Silhouettes

Tuesday, 30 June 2009

These guys are honestly some witty mother bitches! I haven't heard anything about The Silhouette Masterpiece Theatre till i stumbled on their web page today. These designers are so clever: the came across this brilliant idea to put Victorianesque silhouette cutouts on a same period paintings and dark humor captions. This is totally oxymoron! They had me laughing this morning, wishing it was me the creator of this fine pieces of brilliance!
The good news are that you can buy them as prints HERE as 4” x 6” prints for 30U$ small ones.

Talking about silhouettes take a look at our last creations. We are calling them ''Loli-Pops''. Me, Antonia (age 5), Cristina (age 3) wanted to find a way to say goodbye to the King of Pop Music. It was appropriate to touch on how the King Of Pop touched the majority of the musicians i cover everyday here. Most of the artists are missing due to the fact that i had to sacrifice many of my NME magazines! LOL

Nad You're A Window Shopper

Wednesday, 24 June 2009

I did a great deal of shopping two days ago! I bought a coral rose crop top, from Topshop.,Today i did a different kind of shopping: window shopping. It just so happens that the windows are not made of glass, but rather they float between my itunes and my hotmail. I'm gonna share with you something really cool today. I came across DesignSponge, a site which, by all accounts, is very popular and i can see the reason. If you are looking for ideas for a creative household or three, and some words of true advise on cities around the globe from a design and art perspective here is your place-page. Take a glance through their stuff. While spending ''some'' time through SneekPeeks i felt in love with the following spaces of five different houses/appartments:

My curiosity today drove me to CuriosityShoppe, It was here that my window shopping pace increased somewhat, yet so would yours if you caught site of a wooden radio:

We're Looking for a Lot of Love

Wednesday, 17 June 2009

Today i am feeling a bit guilty, for stop writing my blog in Greek. I think that it is sad that we expect everyone to have their online portfolios and sites in English, and i felt in this trap! You see there is so much great stuff out there, and by out there I mean online, than can only be truly appreciated if you can read and understand it! I stopped learning French, since this summer i spent in a college in Tour (an amazing little city near Paris). It is a regret of mine. There are so many Turkish artist that they have their web pages only in Turkish :(

I stumbled on this amazing webpage today: TheBakery, where you can find all-sorts of great stuff. I feel the need to share this short film by Sanne Kurz. It's a 15 minute piece, I'd really suggest you give it your eyes. It starts with this beauty from Chekhov, "Any idiot can face a crisis - it's day to day living that wears you out."

While i was babysitting my little niece last Saturday, we went creative by doing this video, using the brilliant track of Passion Pit: Let Your Love grow Tall.

Tall as the grass in the meadow?
Or the dunes on the shore?
Like the buildings in the city?
And your children on the floor?
Like the darkness in the forest?
Like my frightened worried eyes?
Or the roots in the soil?
Are skies telling lies?
LET YOUR LOVE GROW TALL

This amazing chubby man, have the great ability to make me really happy by writing lyrics like the above! It happens as well to be Greek, fact that makes me feel double-proud . Everybody is talking about him right now!

Here is my video:

And here are some photos i took at the making of! ^_^

Let you love grow tall today and start learning some Turkish ;)

VE-WHRONG-ICAS

I'm gonna talk about twins today. Lets start with Veronicas, the twins who try to get a lot of media coverage by trying to be curious about their sexuality or trying dramatically dress up and act like rebellious adolescent girls, with their odd piercing and whatnot. The worst thing about them is that most of their fans are under the age of 13. I'm not telling that it's bad for a band to have fans under 13, but between you and me, words like ''i feel so untouched, i want you so much. I go oh la la la'', should never come out of a little girl's mouth. (I'm thinking my 5-year-old niece right now, singing this and i find it quite cruel). The thing is that some bands have to stop predenting to dig it to seem alternative.

We live in such a materialistic, fractured, just-in-time society, that it's difficult to find bands that can take you into a deep black hole of an other worldly universe! This is an amazing feeling, and it's the least, of what it feels like when you’re listening to ''School of the Seven Bells''. The twins Alley and Claudia Deheza know the way to make their music work so well. I had the chance to see them perfoming live, supporting ''Bat for Lashes''. Sure, they have angelic voices, and not all ladies can harmonize like they’re in a professional church choir—certainly not every set of twins ( See The Veronicas case).

I remembered how sweetly this song brought tears to my eyes at the concert:

Here are some photos i took at the concert. Aren't they so amazingly beautiful? Yes, they are!

Golden Age

Monday, 15 June 2009

These two legends are my grandpas. Without a shadow of a doubt, my grandfathers are two of the most influential people in my life. They are both 89 years old and they seem to be having a lot more fun than lot of younger people!

I took this picture yesterday, while i was doing some volunteer work for my community: We organized a trip to Pafos for older people of my village and i was dealing with the entertainment part! I was the youngest on the coach, but believe me i had so much fun! Old people are unbelievably adorable and cute and being around them made me realise the lighter side of getting old!

It was a day for an adventure, while seeing beautiful mountains, sun soaked beaches ,field of green and yellow and a nice companyit was a simple experience which has stuck with me all the way to my yestreday evening. I definetely needed to be there.

On our way back home, while everybody were sleeping on the coach i get some time to read my NME while listening to the fabulous RA RA RIOT. I read that Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend and Ra Ra Riot frontman set to realese pop album to rival Usher. I have no preconceptions about pop Music, i just deslike Usher. Change your minds dudes!

This Blogotheque Video reminded me that I needed to include them (Ra Ra Riot) in the blog, give it a watch, or at least a listen. The band rocked my world last year, hope to work the same for you! Bye!
