That's what I did!!!
I spent far too much time on Facebook
I love Facebook...
...I love Zuckerberg

On youtube I watched this anticipated meeting:

I was listening music from my favorite music site: HypeMachine where I discovered Cosmonaut Grechko's delicate remix of YYY's Maps...
...which I use to make a video using some photos I took last year in Suffolk (UK) and I uploaded it later on Vimeo

Friday is for Thinking

Friday, 28 January 2011

It's Friday! Friday in an Islamic country is like Saturday. I don't work today as for Muslim the day today is for gathering. In this day, Muslims gather in the Mosque for the noon prayer "called Al-Gomaa prayer" and for listening to the sermon delivered by the Mosque leader, called Imam.

Except from listening to the Iman, I spent my afternoon listening to Ted Hughes reading his poems on Youtube and thinking of my uncle!!! I was lucky enough to stumbled upon this great video of a fantastic monologue by the poet on the experience of thinking.

There is the inner life of thought which is our world of final reality. The world of memory, emotion, feeling, imagination, intelligence and natural common sense, and which goes on all the time consciously or unconsciously like the heartbeat.

There is also the thinking process by which we break into that inner life and capture answers and evidence to support the answers out of it.

And that process of raid, or persuasion, or ambush, or dogged hunting, or surrender, is the kind of thinking we have to learn, and if we don’t somehow learn it, then our minds line us like the fish in the pond of a man who can’t fish.

Lovesong

He loved her and she loved him.
His kisses sucked out her whole past and future or tried to
He had no other appetite
She bit him she gnawed him she sucked
She wanted him complete inside her
Safe and sure forever and ever
Their little cries fluttered into the curtains

Her eyes wanted nothing to get away
Her looks nailed down his hands his wrists his elbows
He gripped her hard so that life
Should not drag her from that moment
He wanted all future to cease
He wanted to topple with his arms round her
Off that moment's brink and into nothing
Or everlasting or whatever there was

Her embrace was an immense press
To print him into her bones
His smiles were the garrets of a fairy palace
Where the real world would never come
Her smiles were spider bites
So he would lie still till she felt hungry
His words were occupying armies
Her laughs were an assassin's attempts
His looks were bullets daggers of revenge
His glances were ghosts in the corner with horrible secrets
His whispers were whips and jackboots
Her kisses were lawyers steadily writing
His caresses were the last hooks of a castaway
Her love-tricks were the grinding of locks
And their deep cries crawled over the floors
Like an animal dragging a great trap
His promises were the surgeon's gag
Her promises took the top off his skull
She would get a brooch made of it
His vows pulled out all her sinews
He showed her how to make a love-knot
Her vows put his eyes in formalin
At the back of her secret drawer
Their screams stuck in the wall

Their heads fell apart into sleep like the two halves
Of a lopped melon, but love is hard to stop

In their entwined sleep they exchanged arms and legs
In their dreams their brains took each other hostage

In the morning they wore each other's face

This is for lovers like Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath

Where did I come From?

Thursday, 27 January 2011

(image: from the book Where did I come from?)
photos below by me . lyrics by destroyer
I stare at the sky so I know which way that I drink my wine from a porcelain cup

I write poetry for myself

A savage night at the opera
Another savage night at the club
Let's face it, old souls like us are being born to die
It's not a war till someone loses an eye

Now that you got it all wrong
Now that you got it all backwards, girl.
Enter through the exit, and exit through the entrance
...When you can.

I was okay in everything else there was
Oh, I was poor in love

Sounds
Smash hits
Melody maker
Nme
All sound like a dream to me
downtown
Winter, spring, summer, fall, unspeakable!
In a morning, on a Sunday, just wasted in the rain

It so deserves all the nominations its been getting.
