Cuando te canses de crecer
Toca en el dial
la polonesa de Chopin
la sonatina de Rubén,
la seguidilla de Buñuel,
Ponte los cascos en la oscuridad
si te da la espalda la almohada,
busca la frecuencia modulada
una coartada
para alunizar.

Lashings of Loveliness

Saturday, 4 April 2009

The sun was beating down from above and at last we felt heat, natural heat. The air was still and I could almost see the plants stretch out and rejoice, but the most important, i went to TESCO with a short sleeve t-shirt! Harrey! My kids were weather forecasters at school today, it was fun. It was fun when they started arguing about which tv show is better: EastEnders (very popular British Soap Opera) or Friends. I was trying to tell them not to waste their time watching soap operas, but only Lia seemed to listen. Then i remembered that when i was their age i was watching Rosalinda, which is much worse than watching EastEnders.

Lia (photo by me)

''Kyriaaa, I'm Phoebe...Phoebe is weird, I'm weird too!''

I had to correct Lia in that Point that Phoebe is not weird, she is naïve and innocent, a wise generous and funny person. ''For these reasons you are allowed to be Phoebe's character Lia''.

I returned back home knackered and only one thing could save the situation: Listen to new Bat for Lashes, which i download from Torrents two days ago (i promise to buy the album as soon will be released). Since then i can't stop listening to it: ''Two suns'' is epic in scope and ambition and requires a similarly epic patience to unravel its charms, is at its heart a brilliant pop album. Natasha Khan was everywhere in 2007: She toured with Radiohead, played Glastonbury, was nominated for a Mercury Prize, became a unique fashion icon, But more importantly, Fur And Gold, an amazingly amazing and strangely strange album. I can tell though that the new one is twice as nice, look even Kanye is a fan, that's quite cool. This man sometimes surprises me. He is totally retarded but blogging about Natasha is a big bonus for Kanye!

Ιnitiated into mystical indie rock, listening to her hauntingly beautiful songs, i felt asleep. As a master story teller Natasha took me on an imaginary trip through animal kingdoms and magical dream sequences.

I woke up after four hours to discovered something really delightfull while i was surfing on Flickr's pages: I came across a gay couple from Canada. Photos are totally emotional and romantic. Is always good to see love meet art! One of my favorite combos.

Here you can check the rest of Brown Cardigan Photostream On Flickr

ps: if you haven't tried the mini eggs by Cadbury do it today. Pure addiction!

ps 1: I have a ticket for Bat For Lashes and School of the seven Bells Concert! That's a harreyyyy moment!

Time to pick a Time

Wednesday, 25 March 2009

I'm finding it rather difficult to update at the moment. That would be due to my lack of free time. I am not telling that i don't have free time at all, but this week i prefer spending my free time sleeping instead of doing anything else. Bah Humbag!

The last hour though i'm sitting in front of my laptop waiting my flatmate and my friend George to go for a dinner to a friend's house and some interesting things caught my eye.

Oh to be the letter F. It definitely is the letter of the moment. I found Ffffound.com few months ago, when i was reading the Time's article about the 50 best Websites of 2008! Ffffound! is a website for collecting and sharing images from the web, like old dog Flickr , but for other people's pictures. It's really fun exploring this page, quite addictive though! I keep all the interesting photos, illustrations in a folder on my laptop and i have saved about 5000 pieces so far!

That why i love FFFFOUND! for stuff like this one

The cassette tape Jimmy Hendrix reminded me the photos i took my friends in front of the Jimmy Hendrix poster i have on room's wall! Here is Sen Hithgodapitiyegedara as Jimmy (say his surname if you dare) :)

Cool Sen <3>I have to save this as a draft cause i have to goooo!...

...Here I am again:
Today Mashallah Design and Linda Kostowski based in Berlin came into my spotlight! I was amazed by their digital portraits t-shirt project. Take look at this piece

This amazing t-shirt was made by scanning human bodies and using the data to create sewing patterns. The human form is turned into 3D patterns of polygons, which are then turned into 2D files and used to laser cut fabric! Awesome!

I became far more fascinated with what the pair of Mashallah Design and Linda Kostowski were up to as individuals rather than collectively. Mashallah has some interesting and fresh ideas especially in the realms of wallpapers.

I was surprised though when i discovered Kostowski's blog ''realfakewatches''. The idea is witty, unique and therefore brilliant. Realfakewatches are wristwatches that only work for one minute every day (it'd rather say that they show the correct time only once every, twice for analog ones). The good thing is that you can pick what time your watch will say! I want mine! ^_^
Take a look at this
That's all folks for today! bye ^_^

EXPERIENCE

I can't understand Japanese, but i can feel when i listen to his music. Craig Eley over at Cokemachineglow described Shugo Tokumaru this way: “Listening to Shugo is like watching a foreign film with the subtitles off'', and you are able to understand what's happening, i would like to add. Shugo flew under my randar about 4 months ago, when i discovered him on Hypemachine, and i really felt in love with his music. I remember that i tried to learn the lyrics of ''parachute'' and i recorded a video (me singing in fluentrly japanese) on facebook which i sent to my friends Helena's and Georgia's inboxes. My friends were proud of me! (lol). Then i listened to ''EXIT'' (Shugo's third album) which i can characterize it by using all the adjectives i wrote at the beginning. I get obsessed with pop savant Shugo who is undoubtedly a genius musician. He weaves seemingly simplistic melodies together into a wonderful cacophony and he creates pure musica buena!!

Listen to him talking sweetly about his music in the following video. Tokumaru explains his songs are born of his dream (how cute). Beirut members are also saying the best about Shugo (oh Yes). Watch here:

Shugo inspired me to take about 1000 photos of my recently ''12-weirdos''Playmobil collection , that i got from ebay, and make a video of his dreamy song 'Green Rain''.
Here is my video. I hope you like it. ^_^
In case you are wodering i brought those tiny glowing sticks from Venezuela.

Here you can enjoy more of Shugo's songs:

MAGIC

I dedicate all the cute, wonderful and unique songs of Shugo, to a wonderful, cute and unique couple from Thailand (forgot to mention stylish). If you haven't discovered Boboniaas's photostream on Flickr yet, then you're in for a pleasant surprise. My favorite set is of course ★Wadrobe Diary★. Boboniaa and Myydi prove us that is really cool to be cool with your other half. Αpart from that they give us some style lessons.

They are truly adorable:

Saskatoooooon!

I know nothing about Saskatoon, but today i found out that it's a beautiful city in Canada and i really love the name Saskatoon because in greek it sounds ''sa skata'' which mean s''like shit'' and it's funny (whatever)!. What do you know about Saskatoon? Matthew Feyld is from Saskatoon. He draws when he is in Saskatoon. Ok, i'll stop.

Well he is an artist i discovered utterly, stumbling across Flickr ( well i finally don't judge my boyfriend for calling me ''rata de la biblioteca'', because he is right. According to Feyld's biography he suffers from this rare condition where his head swells when he gets stressed. He hasn't let this stop him. He is an amazingly creative and funny artist. You can see his Flickr Page by clicking here. Or just google his name.

That one i think it's my favorite:
